Inclusion policy

Inclusion Policy for Brinny Does Limited

Last Updated: July 15, 2025

At Brinny Does Limited, operated by Brinny Joy Roe, I am deeply committed to fostering an environment where every individual feels safe, seen, valued, and empowered to participate fully. My coaching philosophy is built on the belief that fitness and well-being should be accessible and affirming for all, regardless of background, ability, or identity.

As a neurodivergent and non-binary individual, I bring a lived understanding and profound commitment to creating spaces that celebrate diversity and actively work to remove barriers. This policy outlines my dedication to ensuring an inclusive experience for every client and participant.

1. My Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

I am committed to upholding the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and to ensuring that no individual is discriminated against on the basis of any protected characteristic under the UK Equality Act 2010, including:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender
  • Marriage and Civil Partnership
  • Pregnancy and Maternity
  • Race
  • Religion or Belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual Orientation

Beyond legal compliance, my aim is to create a genuinely welcoming and affirming community.

2. Creating an Affirming and Psychologically Safe Environment

I strive to cultivate a space where you feel comfortable, respected, and free from judgment:

  • Respectful Communication: I am committed to using inclusive language and consistently honouring your chosen name and pronouns. If I am ever unsure, I will politely ask. I encourage an environment where everyone feels safe to communicate openly, ask questions, and share feedback without fear.
  • Non-Judgmental Space: My coaching approach is rooted in compassion and understanding. I foster an atmosphere where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities, and where you can explore movement and wellness without pressure or comparison.
  • Boundaries & Safety: Clear professional boundaries are maintained to ensure a safe and respectful relationship. I expect all participants to uphold these boundaries, contributing to a secure environment for everyone.
  • Conflict Resolution: Should any concerns or conflicts arise, I am committed to addressing them professionally, empathetically, and with care, ensuring that everyone involved feels heard and respected.

3. Specific Commitments to Inclusivity

3.1. Affirming the LGBTQIA+ Community

I actively welcome and affirm individuals from the LGBTQIA+ community. My commitment includes:

  • Pronoun & Name Respect: Consistently using your chosen name and pronouns. If you make a mistake, apologise briefly and sincerely, correct yourself, and move on without drawing excessive attention to the error.
  • Inclusive Language: Employing gender-neutral and affirming language in all communications.
  • Privacy: Respecting your privacy and never asking intrusive questions about your body, medical history, or transition unless explicitly invited to do so.
  • Safe Spaces: Striving to ensure physical and social environments are welcoming and safe for all gender identities and expressions. This includes reinforcing privacy norms in shared spaces (e.g., changing areas, sauna) and reminding all guests that everyone deserves comfort and respect.

3.2. Supporting Neurodivergent Individuals

I recognise and value the diverse ways neurodivergent individuals experience the world. My commitment includes:

  • Presuming Competence: Approaching every client with the belief in their inherent ability and potential.
  • Neuroadaptive Coaching: Tailoring my coaching style to accommodate unique sensory sensitivities, communication preferences, and processing differences.
  • Flexible Communication: Using clear, concise, and direct language, offering visual demonstrations, and allowing adequate processing time for instructions.
  • Sensory Awareness: Being mindful of the training environment and willing to adapt elements like music volume or lighting to enhance your comfort.
  • Open Dialogue: Encouraging you to communicate any specific needs or accommodations so I can best support your participation and well-being.

4. Accessibility

I am dedicated to making movement and wellness as accessible as possible. I strive to adapt my classes and coaching to accommodate a wide range of physical and neurological needs. If you have specific accessibility requirements or require accommodations, please communicate these to me in advance (e.g., by emailing at least 1 week before a class) so I can make the necessary arrangements to best support your participation.

5. Continuous Learning and Improvement

I am committed to ongoing learning and reflection to continuously improve my understanding and practices around diversity, equity, and inclusion. I welcome feedback and see it as an invaluable part of my growth and commitment to creating truly inclusive spaces.

6. Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness any behaviour that goes against the principles of this Inclusion Policy, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at info@brinnydoes.com. All concerns will be handled with sensitivity, discretion, and a commitment to resolution.
